A missing boy last seen swimming in Selawik has been found dead.

Alaska State Troopers responded to the village Monday, after the 7-year-old boy had been missing for two days.

Community members found his body in the Selawik River near the village's swimming area.

A troopers spokesman did not release the name of the boy, but said that he had been seen swimming in the area before going missing. A trooper investigated and did not suspect foul play in the death.

The boy’s body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

This is the second aquatic death in the Northwest Arctic in the last two weeks. In late June, Search and Rescue teams recovered the body of a Noatak man from the Noatak River.
