A man traveling by snowmachine from Noatak to Kotzebue has been found alive after being missing for several days in sub-zero weather. 40-year-old John Booth left Noatak around 3pm on Friday and was reported overdue the next day.

According to state troopers, Booth was found Tues., February 18 near Cape Krusenstern, suffering from cold weather exposure and showing signs of hypothermia. Alaska Wildlife Troopers were able to land a plane on skis close to Booth and then fly him to Maniilaq Health Center for treatment.

The multi-day search effort included Alaska state and wildlife troopers, the Northwest Arctic Borough, local search and rescue teams and numerous volunteers, for ground and aerial searches.
