Tessa Baldwin, Kotzebue’s city manager, was honored in the Alaska Journal of Commerce’s “Top Fourty under 40” last month. The award, now in its 26th year, recognizes Alaskans under 40 years old who display a commitment to their community and professional excellence in their field.
The 30-year-old said in an email to KOTZ that she was humbled to be nominated and selected for the award. Baldwin said she found out she made the list from a friend who congratulated her. She said she was shocked, but also grateful for the opportunity to serve the community in her capacity as city manager.
Each of the awardees will be featured in the Alaska Journal of Commerce magazine and the Anchorage Daily News. Awardees also will receive a commemorative glass statue at a ceremony at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage on April 26.
