The City of Kotzebue announced in a press release today that most of that money will be used to conduct planning and feasibility studies.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg kicked off a three-day tour of Alaska yesterday in the Northwest Arctic community of Kotzebue. It was his first time visiting the 49th state.

The city of Kotzebue is hoping the new road project will help bring prices down in the community, but it’s far from certain that a deep water port will be built at Cape Blossom.
