Kotzebue Police Department says an emergency call about multiple armed assailants early Monday morning was a false alarm. In a press release, city officials said dispatchers received an anonymous call about a “life threatening situation” and that armed individuals were nearby, with intentions to kill the caller.
Three KPD officers and two Alaska state troopers responded, and after an investigation with the caller and residents concluded that there had not been threats to the caller.
City officials say law enforcement officers detained the caller but no arrests were made.
KPD says the department takes all threats seriously, and provided several mental health resources in the release.
