The US Department of Agriculture- Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will be working out of Shishmaref from August 23rd to August 25th with reindeer herders to evaluate reindeer rangeland condition.

NRCS Alaska serves to support private agricultural producers of all kinds to conserve their lands through technical and financial assistance. The permitted work will occur via helicopter in coordination with the following entities: the National Park Service- Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, State of Alaska, Bureau of Land Management, and Wales Native Corporation.
